Nigeria Plans National Credit Database to Boost Access to Formal Credit

Nigeria is working on creating a national credit database that will offer citizens a credit profile based on their borrowing and repayment history. This move could enable up to 119.62 million Nigerians registered in the NIN program to gain better access to formal credit.

However, experts have raised concerns about possible privacy and data protection vulnerabilities linked to this initiative.
