The Nigerian Police has clarified that there is no provision of the law which empowers the police to “arrest Cross Dressers in the society.”
Spokesman of the Nigerian Police Force, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi who stated this in an interview on Channels TV, as monitored by our correspondent, also highlighted some police operations across the country and the recent arrest of suspects involved in the murder of eight police personnel in Delta State. He noted that nine suspects have been arrested in connection, while bodies of the slain officers and men have been recovered.
On the call for the Nigerian Police to arrest and prosecute Cross dressers, the Police spokesman had noted that a case has to be proved against them – for engaging in what he termed unnatural offences.
