World Trade Organisation Director-General Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has warned Nigerians about a fraudulent AI-generated video using her image to promote a fake investment scheme.

She said the video falsely promises huge weekly returns from a government-backed programme and urged the public not to trust or share it. Okonjo-Iweala stressed that she only communicates through her verified X account and does not post on Instagram, Facebook or WhatsApp.

She advised Nigerians to rely solely on official sources for information, while authorities investigate the origin of the manipulated video to curb its spread.
