Victor Osimhen has been crowned the 2023 African Footballer of the Year in a momentous event seeing off competition from Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi and Egyptian forward Mohamed Salah. Nigeria’s Asisat Oshoala, clinched her sixth title of the award, having won it in 2014, 2016, 2017, 2019 and 2022.

Super Falcon’s Goalkeeper, Chiamaka Nnadozie also won the women’s goalkeeper of the year prize, while the Super Falcons have been named the Women’s Team of the Year for the second time after 2018, off the back of an impressive showing at the World Cup earlier in the year.
