President Bola Tinubu has signed the amended Student Loan Bill into law after it was passed by the House of Representatives and the Senate.
The bill titled; “Student Loans (Access to Higher Education) Act (Repeal and Re-Enactment) Bill 2024” was signed into law by President Tinubu yesterday at the Presidential Villa, Abuja in the presence of the leadership from the National Assembly, ministers, and major education stakeholders.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, President Tinubu who commended members of the National Assembly for their expeditious consideration and passage of the bill, said his government is determined to ensure that education in the country is highly prioritized including skills development programmes.
Our correspondent, Raliat Adenekan reports that the executive bill establishes the Nigerian Education Loan Fund as a corporate body tasked with receiving, managing and investing funds to provide loans to Nigerians pursuing higher education, vocational training and skills acquisition programs.
