President Bola has appointed Pius Akinyelure as the Non-Executive Board Chairman of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and also retained Mele Kyari as the organization’s Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO).
A statement released by spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, said the duo is part of the new board and management of the NNPCL, in compliance with Section 59 (2) of the Petroleum Industry Act, 2021, while their appointment takes effect from December 1, 2023.
Other members and board of the management include: Alhaji Umar Isa Ajiya — as Chief Financial Officer; while Non-Executive Directors include Mr. Ledum Mitee; Mr. Musa Tumsa; Mr. Ghali Muhammad; Prof. Mustapha Aliyu; Mr. David Ogbodo and Ms. Eunice Thomas. Tinubu also approved the appointment of two permanent secretaries for the Federal Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Petroleum Resources.
The President had earlier sworn in the eight new Permanent Secretaries, whose appointments he approved last Friday, after they successfully scaled the Federal Civil Service’s selection process.
