The pupils and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Are of Oyo State have regained their freedom after 56 days in captivity. This was disclosed by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga via a shared post on his verified X handle.

Onanuga announced that “Finally, all kidnapped pupils and teachers in Oriire, Oyo have been rescued by our Security agencies”, he wrote.

In a video of the rescued pupils and teachers, they expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. Bayo Onanuga stated that no concession was made to the terrorists to secure the freedom of the abducted pupils and teachers. The abduction occurred on May 15, 2026 when armed men attacked three schools namely Community Grammar School, Baptist Nursery and Primary school, and L.A. Primary School, in Esiele and Yawota communitie of Oriire Local Government area.

The news has brought cheers to Nigerians and encouragement to the Security agencies. We rejoice with the families.
