The Senate has said there is currently no legal basis for Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan to resume her duties following her suspension in March.
The Senate’s spokesperson, Senator Yemi Adaramodu, stated this on Sunday in response to reports that Akpoti-Uduaghan plans to return to plenary on Tuesday, citing a Federal High Court ruling.
According to Adaramodu, the certified court order does not contain any express or mandatory instruction directing her reinstatement.
He added that the Senate will review the judgment and take a constitutionally guided decision before communicating any outcome to the senator and the public.
