SHINNING STARS AT THE WORLD CUP2026

shining stars at the fifa 2026 world cup

The Fifa 2026 World Cup is shaping up to be an historical event that wouldn’t be forgotten anytime soon. From outstanding performances by world class players, to dramatic last minute comeback wins, golden boot chase between legendary players and budding talents, and celebrity attendance.

Enthusiasts of the World Cup seem to raise eyebrows as regards African team’s performance as all African Teams have been knocked out from the tournament , with Morocco being the last culprit. Falling to 2-0 loss to former World Cup Champions, France.

Following Morocco’s brilliant performance at the last world cup in Qatar, where they reached the Semifinals, also losing the 3rd place award to Croatia, they where applauded for their performance as the remaining African team to get there, hereby raising the bar of expectation at the 2026 Fifa World Cup, to the possibility of them going a notch higher. This was put to a stop by France with a first wonder goal by Kylian Mbappe, then a follow up sealer by Ousmane Dembélé.

Before this, EGYPT had been knocked out by the World Cup Champions, Argentina. Coming from a 2-0 lead by EGYPT, but last minute heroics saw the ARGENTINES roar back to lead 3-2 without going into extra time. To also note, Senegal had experienced similar loss to Belgium, and Cote D’ivoire losing to England despite them having a one goal lead. The Big question would be, what is happening to African Teams on the Big Stage? And how can we perform better? Including the Super Eagles. Only time would tell.

Nonetheless, the Fifa 2026 World Cup has been watch worthy, with teams securing their place in the Semi Finals. Spain being the latest to join. Their next encounter would be with France. A match that has been tagged as the Final before the Finals. Other teams looking forward to secure a place at the Semifinals are Switzerland versus Argentina, Norway versus England. Norway seem to be writing the perfect Cinderella story, getting to this stage for the first time in their history at the World Cup, with the Norwegian Viking Erling Haaland leading the scoring charge for the team, netting seven goals in the tournament and positioning him for the golden boot along worthy contenders Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe with 8 goals each.
