Malawi’s President Lazarus Chakwera has suspended with immediate effect all international travel for himself and his government in a bid to save money

The measure follows a huge devaluation of the currency as Malawi secures a loan fromthe International Monetary Fund (IMF) to boost its ailing economy.Mr Chakwera has also ordered all ministers currently abroad to return home.Fuel allowances for senior government officials have been cut by 50%.
Kenyans have been given a special holiday to plant 100 million trees as part of the government’s goal to plant 15 billion trees in 10 years

The holiday allows “each and every Kenyan to own the initiative”, according toEnvironment Minister Soipan Tuya.Each Kenyan is being encouraged to plant at least two seedlings, leading to the 100-million target.The initiative is intended to help fight climate change.
