President Bola Tinubu has renewed Brigadier-General Mohammed Buba Marwa’s (rtd) appointment as Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency for another five-year term, keeping him at the helm until 2031. Marwa was first appointed in 2021 and previously chaired the Presidential Advisory Committee for the Elimination of Drug Abuse.
Marwa brings decades of military and public service experience, including roles as brigade major, ADC to the Chief of Army Staff, and defence adviser at the Nigerian Embassy in Washington, DC, and the UN. He also holds postgraduate degrees from the University of Pittsburgh and Harvard University.
Under his leadership, the NDLEA has made major achievements, including the arrests of 73,000 drug offenders and the seizure of over 15 million kilograms of drugs. President Tinubu praised Marwa’s performance and urged him to continue his fight against drug trafficking and abuse, consolidating the agency’s gains.
