French President Emmanuel Macron announced on Sunday that he spoke with Tinubu about strengthening cooperation. Northern Nigeria has seen a surge in attacks recently, including kidnappings from schools and churches.

In recent weeks, the United States has suggested possible intervention to protect Christians in Nigeria, with U.S. President Donald Trump hinting at military action. The Nigerian government insists the violence affects multiple communities, not just one faith group.

During the call, Macron expressed France’s commitment to support Nigeria’s fight against terrorism in the north and urged other nations to contribute.
