A heated confrontation broke out between the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, and Nigerian Navy personnel over an alleged land grab in Abuja’s Gaduwa District.
During a visit to the disputed site, Wike accused the Navy of illegally taking over land reportedly linked to a former Chief of Naval Staff. An officer on site defended the military’s actions, insisting the acquisition was legal, which led to a verbal exchange between him and the minister.
Wike later condemned the incident, describing it as an act of lawlessness, and vowed that the FCTA would not allow illegal developments to continue. The Navy has yet to comment on the matter.
