John Alfred Tinniswood, recognized by Guinness World Records as the world’s oldest man, has passed away at the age of 112. He died on Monday, November 25, 2024, at the Hollies Care Home in Southport, England. Guinness World Records confirmed his death in a statement on Tuesday.
The family shared that Tinniswood’s last day was “surrounded by music and love.” They also expressed gratitude to those who cared for him over the years, including staff at the care home and healthcare professionals, noting, “John’s life was one surrounded by love.”
Born on August 26, 1912, Tinniswood was a lifelong supporter of Liverpool FC. He gained worldwide recognition in April 2024 when he became the oldest living man after the death of Juan Vicente PĂ©rez Mora. Tinniswood is survived by his daughter, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
