A Chief Magistrate Court in Ado Ekiti, the capital of Ekiti State, has placed Solomon Sunday, 18, under detention in connection with the alleged rape of a 2-year-old kid.
Inspector Olasunkanmi Bankole, the prosecution, informed the court that the defendant was accused of committing the crime on August 24, 2025, in the Ado-Ekiti Magisterial District.
According to Bankole, the offense was penalized under Section 31 of the Ekiti State, 2021, Child Rights Law. According to the prosecutor, there was sufficient justification to remand the defendant.
The prosecutor went on to say that there was a reasonable suspicion that the defendant had r@pe’d the victim.
He said that the duplicate file had been forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal opinion and asked the court to remand the defendant.
The Chief Magistrate, Adefunke Anoma, ordered that the defendant be remanded in a correctional center and adjourned the matter till October 14 for mention.
