An explosion last night rocked the Otedola Bridge in Lagos, sparking a massive fire. The blast, which occurred at 8:18p.m., when a 50,000-litre tanker loaded with petroleum products overturned while making a turn at Otedola Bridge.
Panic-stricken motorists scrambled to escape the scene, to avoid a repeat of 2018 incident at the same location which left at least 12 people dead, and 54 vehicles burned.
Coordinator, National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) Lagos Territorial Office, Mr Ibrahim Farinloye, confirmed the explosion claimed the life of one person with four others sustaining injury, 14 vehicles were destroyed, affecting one commercial storey building and damaged four shops.
He listed emergency responders at the scene to include, NEMA, the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, the fire service, the Nigeria Police Force and the Federal Road Safety Corps.
