The Federal Capital Territory Administration has approved the revocation of 4,794 land titles due to non-payment of ground rent.
Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications to the FCT Minister, Lere Olayinka, who made this known while speaking with newsmen in Abuja yesterday, explained that the affected property are located in key areas of Abuja, including Garki I and II, Wuse I and II, Asokoro, Maitama, and Guzape.
According to him, 8,375 property owners have failed to pay their ground rents in the past 43 years, with outstanding debts amounting to about 7 billion naira as at the end of last year.
Olayinka added that a 21-day grace window had been given to titleholders who have defaulted for between one and ten years to make their payments.
