The Federal Government has begun giving out the sum of 2.75 billion naira as compensation for demolition of properties to their owners from chainage zero to three kilometres along Oniru Beach.

At the Flag off of the compensation, the minister of works, Dave Umahi noted that the compensation will be done in phases, urging affected persons to exercise patience while the process is ongoing.

The minister also used the occasion to direct that as a matter of policy, sand dredging should henceforth, be carried out within a minimum of ten kilometre square of major bridges nationwide as enforcement is soon to begin.
