France may be disqualified from 2023 FIFA U-17

Sports

France may be disqualified from the ongoing 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Indonesia
for fielding an ineligible player.

The bone of contention is 17-year-old Montpellier star Yanis Issoufou, who played for Niger Republic in the qualifiers three months earlier.
It is strictly forbidden for a footballer to play for two teams in the same competition by FIFA and hence an action could be taken against the French team.

According to reports, FIFA were not informed of the youngster’s apparent change in nationality. The Bleulets of France just qualified for the quarter final of the tournament after beating Senegal 5-3 on penalties.
