Yemen’s Houthi rebel group has claimed responsibility for launching a missile at Israel, which was successfully intercepted. The ballistic missile was directed towards Ben Gurion Airport near Tel Aviv, according to the group’s military spokesperson in a televised statement.
In response, sirens sounded in several parts of Israel, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) reported. Thankfully, no injuries have been reported, and the IDF confirmed that the missile was intercepted before it could enter Israeli territory.
Meanwhile, in Gaza, Israeli airstrikes early Thursday resulted in at least 10 deaths, according to Hamas-run civil defense authorities. Israel has expanded its ground operations in Gaza, following a series of airstrikes that, according to the Hamas-run health ministry, killed over 430 people within two days. The latest airstrikes on Thursday targeted six homes east of Khan Younis, injuring dozens.
The Israeli military confirmed that a missile launched from Yemen was intercepted by the Israeli Air Force (IAF) before it could reach Israeli territory. Sirens were triggered as part of the standard safety protocol.
The Houthi group has vowed to retaliate against Israel, following recent deadly strikes by the U.S. against their forces.
