Newcastle Beats Liverpool to Win Carabao Cup

Dan Burn and Alexander Isak  fired Newcastle to a League Cup final 2-1 victory over Liverpool last night.

Although Federico Chiesa pulled one back for the Reds in stoppage time, the Magpies held on to beat Liverpool for the first time in 18 attempts.

It is Newcastle’s first domestic trophy since the 1955 FA Cup.

In fact, Newcastle’s last piece of silverware was the 1969 Inter Cities Fairs Cup.

Last night’s victory also means Eddie Howe became the first English manager to win a domestic trophy since Harry Redknapp in 2008.
