Nexford University, a US-based and Accredited Online University in Nigeria, held her Class of 2024 graduation at the weekend with the mantra to Lead The Change; Ignite The Future, as the world leans towards integrated artificial intelligence.
Its Founder and CEO, Fadl Al Tarzi, who revealed that the 4th graduation of the postgraduate institution produced 1,090 students, with almost 40 per cent of them already studied various arms of artificial intelligence, like cyber security and basic knowledge of blockchains, said this would improve Nigeria’s productivity and equip people with the skills required to access economic opportunities, regardless of their physical location.
Mr Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate in the 2023 polls, who was the keynote speaker at the event called for the establishment of more online universities, saying online education was the sustainable and scalable strategy of offering students continuous learning that empowers society.
Similarly, the Lagos State Commissioner for Innovation, Science and Technology, Mr Olatubosun Alake, noted that online classes have democratised learning and improved education outcomes, and knowing that technology can change economies, Lagos state has established various programmes with support to organisations that champion infusion of technology across sectors.
