Nigeria striker Victor Osimhen has been ruled out of Tuesday’s crucial 2026 World Cup qualifying match against South Africa in Bloemfontein.
The striker limped off midway through the first half of Saturday’s 1-0 win over Rwanda in Uyo, after a challenge from Claude Niyomugabo.
Further update from the team’s camp on Sunday revealed Osimhen will not be involved in Tuesday’s game after the team doctor assessed his injury.
Nigeria won their first match in five attempts in Group A of Africa’s qualifying series, and are third on ten points after seven games.
South Africa lead the group with 16 points with three matches left to play, and they clash with the Super Eagles in a winner-takes-all encounter on September 9.
