The Senate has inaugurated a 17-member ad-hoc committee to investigate the Ways and Means and the Anchor Borrowers Programme of the Central Bank of Nigeria
The ad-hoc Committee has six weeks to investigate and report back their findings.
The move comes after a decision to probe details of the programmes, based on monies given to state governments, manufacturers, aviation, banks, excess funding in the power sector, amongst others since 2015 – which raised the current debt profile of the country.
Correspondent, Raliat Adenekan reports that during the committee inauguration, the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, had charged the committee to leave no stone unturned in pursuit of the truth about the Loans Advances totaling N30 trillion.
