The Trade Union Congress (TUC) has “backed out” of the planned two-day nationwide protest between 27th and 28th February, in parts of the country over sundry economic issues.
Its Vice-President, Tommy Etim, said the decision – as announced by the NLC – was not taken collectively by both unions.
TUC Secretary General Nuhu Toro, in a letter to the NLC leadership, expressed disappointment that the Joe Ajaero-led labour group did not carry the Festus Osifo-led trade association along.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Labour Congress has faulted the Appeal by the DSS to “avoid going on a planned protest” over the economic situation and cost of living crises.
In reaction, the Labour Union, instead advised the DSS to focus their attention on the arrest of “elements” planning to use the protest to foment crisis.
