A last-minute meeting called by the Federal Government to avert the proposed nationwide protest by the NLC has ended in a deadlock.
Speaking to journalists after the closed-door meeting, the NLC president, Joe Ajaero, said the protest will be held today Tuesday, while their list of demands would be submitted to the National Assembly also.
Recall that hours earlier, the Federal Government has appealed to the (NLC) to “shelve its planned nationwide protest”
According to the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris the Federal Executive Council discussed extensively the concerns of the Labour unions with a view to address all the challenges.

The Trade Union Congress of Nigeria on its part had asked the Federal Government to allow the importation of food to mitigate the hardship occasioned by the soaring prices of food items across the country.
Briefing journalists at a press conference in Abuja on Monday, TUC President, Comrade Festus Osifo, also issued the federal government a two weeks ultimatum to determine the real value of naira.
