President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the deployment of advanced technology to tackle insecurity in the southeast region.
Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma who disclosed this on Tuesday, after a meeting with President Buhari at the presidential villa, Abuja explained that the approval followed his request to President Buhari to deploy the high tech surveillance equipment in the region to help fight insecurity without collateral damage.
Our Correspondent, Raliat Adenekan reports that Governor Uzodinma reiterated that he is not responsible for the insecurity in Imo state, adding that those fighting him simply instigate an atmosphere of insecurity out of desperation and not because of underdevelopment or corruption.
He stated that his visit to the Presidential Villa was equally to thank the president for the various projects executed in the southeast region including the recent conversion of the Federal Medical Centre Owerri to a university teaching hospital for the Federal University of Technology, the opening of the Second Niger bridge among others.
He appealed to Imolites to sustain their support and cooperation with federal government.
