The Chairman, Senate Committee on the Review of the 1999 Constitution and Deputy President of the Senate, Ovie Omo-Agege, has lamented that only Eleven states have voted and complied with the constitutional amendment carried out earlier this year while twenty-five states are yet to consider and vote.
Senator Omo-Agege who made the disclosure at a Joint Press Conference on constitutional amendments and latest development at the National Assembly accused some state governors of interfering in the affairs of state assemblies and turning state lawmakers into puppets for their selfish gains.
The President Nigerian Labour Congress, Ayuba Wabba while speaking on State Policing stated that the Constitutional amendment Process was transparent and fair.
Senator Omo-Agege who is also the Co-Chairman, Joint Senate and House of Representatives Committees on the Review of the 1999 Constitution, disclosed that consultants had recommended over 66 bills from the hearings and memos submitted by the public.
