The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has addressed the concerns raised by the Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) regarding the Chief of Defence Staff’s (CDS) approach to the prolonged crisis in Plateau State.
The DHQ in a statement by the Acting Director of Defence Information (DDI) Brig. Gen. Tukur Gusau informed that the formation of a Fact-Finding Team and the deployment of military resources to troubled areas were part of a comprehensive strategy to restore peace.
Expressing disappointment with HURIWA’s lack of informed perspective, the DHQ called for civil society organizations, particularly HURIWA, to seek credible information before making statements on national security matters.
They further warned of potential legal action if such misinformation is repeated, emphasizing the responsible use of media.
