The Federal Government has assured motorists plying the Sagamu-Ijebu Ode axis of the Sagamu-Benin expressway that palliative work would commence on the failed portions of the road.
Minister of Works, Dave Umahi, who spoke after inspecting the failed portion of the road in Sagamu yesterday said the deplorable condition of the road had caused untold hardship to motorists, while assuring that the road would fix it before the end of the year.
The Minister, who was also on tour to assess the progress of work on the Lagos-Calabar Coastal road axis, assured that the huge refuse dump on the route will not increase cost of construction or slow down the pace of work, and the illegal squatters along the corridor will soon be completely dislodged.
Umahi stressed that the May 2025 deadline for completion of the forty-seven kilometres road remains sacrosanct.
