The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon Abbas Tajudeen has stressed the need for devolution of powers, including STATE POLICING, and enhancement of FISCAL FEDERALISM, amongst others.

Hon Tajudeen who stated this while inaugurating the House Committee on the review of the 1999 Constitution today, noted that the Committee will put into consideration; decongesting the Exclusive Legislative List, recognizing and assigning constitutional roles for traditional institutions and promoting inclusivity.

Deputy Speaker of the House of Reps, Benjamin Kalu, who will Head the review Committee, assured that Nigeria’s new constitution will be ready for presidential assent in the next 24 months.
