The Port Harcourt Refining Company in Rivers State has “re-commenced operations” in line with the Federal Government’s promise to ensure the production of refined products at the facility in December 2023.
The re-commencement of operations at the Port Harcourt refinery comes over two years after the Federal Government approved funding of $1.5 billion for its repairs.
Also, the mechanical repair works on the rehabilitation of Warri Refinery Petrochemical Company (WRPC) will be completed latest by January 2024, and according to the Minister of State for Petroleum (Oil), Heineken Lokpobiri, along with Mele Kyari, Group Chief Executive Officer of the NNPCL, the Warri refinery would come on stream by the end of the first quarter of 2024.
Four of Nigeria’s refineries in Port Harcourt, Warri, and Kaduna have a combined capacity to process 445,000 barrels per day (bpd).
