The Police Service Commission (PSC) has approved the promotion of 1,607 Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs) to the rank of Superintendents (SPs).

The Head of Press and Public Relations of PSC, Mr Ikechukwu Ani, in a statement yesterday said the commission had earlier stepped down the consideration of the officers’ promotion at its last management meeting because of some discrepancies noticed in the list.

Ani said among those promoted, 158 officers are in the professional cadre.

The Chairman of the commission, Dr Solomon Arase, said the promotion had restored the dignity of the specialists’ cadre in the Nigeria Police Force, noting that the commission would continue to give equal opportunities to all cadres.
