Rivers United came from a goal down against Ghana’s Dreams FC to navigate their way into the CAF Confederation Cup quarter-finals after securing a late 2-1 win.
The result meant the Port Harcourt club finished second in Group C with 12 points from six games. Dreams FC topped the standings with the same number of points but enjoyed a better goal difference.
Meanwhile, Seven strong contenders have joined defending champions Al Ahly in the quarter-finals, as the CAF Champions League entered the knock-out stage.
CAF will in the coming days announce the date for the quarter-finals draw. The qualified teams for the quarter-finals are:
Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa), TP Mazembe (DR Congo), ASEC Mimosas (Cote d’Ivoire), Simba (Tanzania), Petro de Luanda (Angola), Esperance (Tunisia), Al Ahly (Egypt), Young Africans (Tanzania).
