The Senate has asked President Bola Tinubu to sack Danladi Umar as chairman of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) over allegations of corruption and misconduct.
The upper chamber adopted the resolution during yesterday’s plenary after Senate President Godswill Akpabio put it to a vote, and a majority of the senators supported it.
84 Senators had signed in favour of Umar’s removal following deliberations on a motion by the Senate Leader, Opeyemi Bamidele, thus paving the way for the official resumption of Abdullahi Bello as the new substantive Chairman of the Tribunal.
The resolution will be forwarded to President Bola Tinubu who will make the final decision on the matter.
