The U.S. government, under President Donald Trump, has proposed ending its financial support for Gavi, a global vaccine alliance aimed at enhancing immunization access and improving public health worldwide.

A report from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), shared with Congress this week, identified Gavi as one of the international programs facing cuts. According to Reuters, the document reveals a total of 5,341 awards will be canceled, leading to nearly $76 billion in reductions. Of that amount, the U.S. has already committed approximately $48 billion.

However, the Trump administration has clarified that it will maintain funding for key health initiatives, including grants for HIV and tuberculosis treatment, along with food aid for nations impacted by civil conflict and natural disasters.
